Cookie Policy
This page explains how the NatBuddy website (natbuddy.com) uses cookies and similar storage. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What this site sets
The NatBuddy website is built to be light: we self-host our fonts and stylesheet rather than loading them from third-party content-delivery networks, and our site analytics are cookieless. Two kinds of storage do exist:
- Essential, first-party storage. A small amount of storage strictly needed for a page to work, or to remember a basic preference during your visit — including your choice on our Do Not Sell or Share page. This is never used for advertising.
- One advertising cookie, outside Europe. We run the Meta (Facebook) advertising pixel so that we can show NatBuddy ads to people who have visited this site. It sets a first-party cookie named
_fbpand reports the pages you viewed on natbuddy.com to Meta. It does not read your name, your email, or anything you have entered in the NatBuddy app.
2. It does not run for everyone
The advertising pixel is deliberately switched off — nothing is loaded and no advertising cookie is set — when any of the following is true:
- You appear to be in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. We do not advertise in those markets and this site shows no consent banner, so we do not run advertising tracking there at all. We determine this from your browser's time zone, which requires no location lookup; the check is intentionally broad, so some visitors outside those regions are excluded too.
- Your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal. We honour it.
- You have opted out on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.
The pixel is also absent from our legal pages, including this one, and from the opt-out page itself.
Because the only non-essential cookie is advertising, is limited to regions that do not require prior consent, and can be turned off on a page linked from every footer, we do not show a cookie-consent banner.
3. Managing storage and learning more
You can clear or block cookies and site storage at any time through your browser's settings, and you can turn the advertising pixel off for this browser on our Do Not Sell or Share page. For how we handle personal information overall, see our Privacy Policy. Note that NatBuddy's iOS app does not use web cookies; the app's data practices are described in the Privacy Policy and the AI Privacy Notice.
